Armies: Eldar Wraithost v dark angel ravenwing
Points: 1500+handicaps
Deployment: Dawn of War
Mission: Capture and Control
Night fighting: None

The Wraithost found themselves ill prepared to fight a mobile mon keigh army and were forced into a defensive deployment. The distant Farseers ensured their constructs crucially stole the initiative and the Wraithost managed to manoeuvre their way into the fight, just managing to retain parity with their busy counterparts.

The Farseers ensured that the losing position in round five was not the battles end and when the conclusion did arrive, had contrived a winning position by the final commendation ruling in the closest of possible victories.

By virtue of a low scoring encounter between the abomination and the invertebrates, the Eldar were able to claim a most unlikely campaign victory.

In the Farseers we trust.

Four Way Battle Rules

4 player game,
1500 points each
4 tables (larger area);
Each player to have a 2 VP base to defend (can be scored each turn)
A single central scoring area to contest (can be scored each turn, 2 VP if being contested, 4 VP if being controlled).
Slay the Warlord, Highlander also to apply, but no First Blood or Linebreaker.
Deployment to be as normal, but each turn player order to be randomised until turn 4.
Optional Rule:
Players may choose to spend VPs to replace lost units or models, at the cost of 2 VP per unit. Each VP can be used to purchase 50 points worth of unit. This may only be done once per game. Only destroyed units or models may be replaced. Units within formations can be replaced (e.g. 1 Predator within a 3 Predator unit), but multi-unit formations may not be replaced in toto – only one specific unit within it. (In other words, one destroyed Devastator Squad or one  destroyed Tactical Squad within a Demi-Battle Company could be replaced, but not a Devastator Squad and a Tactical Squad)
Provisional Psychic Rules.
Psychic powers should work as follows:
The d6 Psychic Points roll will be made for each player turn, thereby allowing Deny the Witch for each Psychic Phase.
Players with Psychic Points will be allowed to access these in each player turn.
Deny the Witch rolls can be made against any hostile power cast at a player, unless the Psychic Points pool available to a player has already been exhausted.
Attempts to Deny the Witch against powers cast to buff units within the Pysker’s Army can only be made if a player has a unit within 24” of the casting player, and only if the Psychic Points pool available to the Denying player has not already been exhausted.
Players may not attempt to deny powers being cast against a third party player.
Only one attempt may be made to Deny any power per player turn. The player who wishes to spend the largest number of points Denying will make the roll.

5 Armies Campaign: Grey Knights vs Blood Axes

1500 Points

Hammer and Anvil

Purge the Alien (Modified)

The Blood Axes launched an incursion into the Grey Knight zone, planned using all of Boss Snigrotz powers of stealth warfare. The boss however was a bit late arriving and the boyz just went about things with their usual tact and subtlety! Despite this deviation from the plan things went well for the orkz; although they conceded First Blood they took out both Dread Knights. Casualties on both sides mounted as the battle settled into a close quarters slug fest. The Paladin armour largely defied the Lootas firepower and even the eventual arrival of Da Boss couldn’t tip the balance.

Five Armies Campaign: DA Librarius vs Space Marines

1500 points
Cities of Death

Different factions of the Imperium came to blows over the ruins of an Imperial hive city. The Dark Angels, following up rumours of a Fallen presence, allied themselves with a free blade knight, only to find themselves a sailed by forces from a different  marine chapter. However, the power of their mobile psykers and supporting Ravenwing Knights, plus the awesome firepower of the free blade, soon decimated the terminators and stern guard formations of their adversaries, and the Angels secured their objectives with relative ease.

Five Armies Campaign: Eldar Stormhost vs Tyranid Tremor Swarm

Mission: maelstrom of war
Points: 1000+500+handicap
Armies: tyranid v eldar stormhost

Fearing the worst, the Eldar took the offensive to their insectoid opponents after stealing initiative and choosing Wave Serpents for mobility. The firepower of the massed Eldar ranks started to take its toll and the swarm became increasingly isolated. When reserves failed to show, the invertebrates found themselves with little chance of subduing the strangely aggressive Eldar and the contest was ended.

Tzeentch - Tyranids Hoedown

1,500 Points (Tyranids +50)
The Relic
Planet: Sodre-mund

A most enjoyable scuffle between two basement veterans saw the Egyptian cross dressers outlast the massed line dancers of bugland.

A daring infiltration by the Sons saw them crowd the relic from the outset, but it was ultimately the summoning  of daemonic horrors that proved decisive. The pinkies drew the attention of the insect hordes whilst terminators ground down the Tyranids' heavy hitters.

A close fought encounter that was in the balance all the way.

Now... bring on the Knights!

The Ghost Warriors

With the coming of the Craft Worlds to the Exodite's Maiden Planets, the Eldar of Myth-Illiath have become increasingly concerned with their over-reliance on Ghost Warriors. The Eldar of Myth-Illiath consider the life force of the souls swimming in the Infinity Circuit to be utterly sacred and will only call upon them for moments of most dire need, come the Apocalypse.

This will also deny the plethora of D-Weapons wielded by these constructs from reeking further havoc upon their treasured homelands.

For the harvest!

Groft 'n' da boyz continued der little scrap tour wiv a stop at Alsanta. At first da boyz thought dey'd found more bugz to squash but even though it looked like a big bug it was actually da chaos mob and dey was pissed.
Da krew wasn't really in da mood for deamons so they dug in and hung on while da big scorpion smashed most of da hardware, although Groft was still able to scavange a lot of it!

Proposed Rule Change - Moral Check in Assault Phase

I would like to propose that the moral check during the Assault Phase triggered by losing a combat based on the number of wounds sustained is changed to being triggered by the percentage of unit wounds lost in the phase (25% as per loses in the Shooting Phase) and that there is no modifier based on the number of wounds sustained.

My reasoning behind this is that I feel it unfairly discriminates against large number/low cost units, such as those common in Ork armies. The Ork codex appears to have been written on the basis that low abilities (BS, saves, armour, invulnerability etc...) are balanced out by low cost i.e. that higher spec opponents are resisted by weight of numbers rather than abilities. With the current arrangement for moral in the Assault Phase it is common for a largely intact Ork unit to be wiped out through failing a morale check and the resulting 'sweeping advance' (which Orkz also tend to be disadvantaged in due to low initiatives across the board).

I do note the Ork 'Mob Rule' ability which gives them an opportunity to redress a failed morale check (which in the new codex this has much reduced effectiveness) but I don't believe it addresses the above issue.

Suggested Mission

When it is decided who is playing who, one player takes the lead as the 'home' army. They decide on the mission and battlefield and order of deployment, but must publish their army in full. The second player must abide by the 'home' player's choices but gets the advantage of arriving with an unknown force, cherry-picked for the battlefield, mission, deployment order and army chosen by their opponent.

This might not suit all, but it is perhaps an interesting alternative every now and again.

Orky Eldar v Eldaresque Orkz

Points: 1000 Orky Eldar (+100) vs Eldaresque Orkz (+200)
Mission: Emperor's Will
Planet: Neutral
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil

As you would expect, under the leadership of the Orkz, the Eldar advanced and under the generalship of the Eldar, the Orkz stood firm. Not renowned for holding fast under fire, the Eldaresque Orkz took a couple of Void Shield Generators and survived the bombardment. Not renowned for their charging, the Orky Eldar's advance soon faltered.

At great personal (and Gretchin) sacrifice, the Weird Boyz summoned charioteered Heralds of Slaanesh, and they tipped the balance towards the Eldaresque Orkz, forcing the Orky Eldar from the field.

Great fun and a real insight into an opponent's Codex. Thoroughly recommended.
