A savage encounter between the Ravenwing and an Orkish Waagh - in pursuit of an important piece of ancient technology - ended with the narrowest of wins for the Imperium.

Caught by surprise, the Ravenwing - led by Sammael - were able to score the first blow in what became an attritional contest. However, unusually accurate Ork fire, plus the sheer weight of numbers, threatened to turn the tide in the favour of the greenskins. Indeed, after the destruction of an entire Black Knights squadron (and its Librarian support), Sammael was heard to mutter: "There's something wrong with our units today."

The Master of the Ravenwing should have had more faith. While his bikers fell under the Ork onlaught, the Ravenwing's Relic Dreadnoughts exacted a terrible revenge, cutting the Orks down like wheat. Tanks, walkers and infantry were all mown like grass under the scythe - allowing Sammael to prevent the Orks from retrieving the Relic before night brought an end to proceedings.
