Following the intelligence won on
The Planet of the Dead, the Eldar launched a strike force to the planet of Volistad
to destroy or capture the new Ork technology and prevent the use of Der Floa'y Fing.
The ensuing battle raised many concerns within the War Seer
Assembly; the Orkz fought a controlled defensive battle ignoring opportunities
to range forward or charge into assault, they took full advantage of cover and
retreated in good order where necessary. Despite this atypical behaviour the
Eldar pressed home their attacks against them but before they could break through and seize
the device it was activated by the Orks. The effect was devastating…
An enormous plume of
Ork spores saturated Volistad and tumbled through space colliding with planet
Nocturne. The effect on both worlds was shocking; the spores quickly settled
through the atmospheres and matured at a frightening rate, within hours
millions of mature orks erupted from the rapidly formed husks. A valiant
defence ensued on Nocturne but with Orkz erupting everywhere and an Ork hulk
fleet moving into orbit the Eldar were forced to abandon Nocturne to it fate.
Groft’s plan woz progressing, der floaty fing had worked first time and Gutrakka was 'appy that 'his' idea had worked. Next he 'ad to suggest to Gutrakka that a more powerful version woz needed to help launch Waaagh Gutrakka...
ReplyDeleteIt turned out to be as tight as it was designed to be! Well done! Time was always going to be a huge factor and ultimately, rolling that 6+ to end the game in turn 5 was crucial! Looking forward to the next one!
ReplyDeleteTwo mistakes to admit to. Apologies, though happily it did not effect the outcome. Ranger's rifles are heavy and they could not move and fire (they did minimal damage anyway!) and I completely forgot that I can only upgrade with my handicap points (+50 for this battle and I actually upgraded +250 points). Neither mistake will happen again!
