Mission 2: ‘Unexpected Guests’ – Maelstrom of War: Cloak and
Shadows
Background:Groft’s ingenious tinkering with the ancient technology lead to the successful development of a teleporter (after an acceptable number of gretchin ‘volunteers’ sacrificed themselves in test runs). The next step was a full scale test, so he subtly pointed out to Gutrakka what fun could be had on the Tyranids’ nearby hive ship…
Mission:
The mission, objectives etc… will be
as per Cloak and Shadows but using the deployment map below. The Orkz deploy
first in their zone and then the Tyranids deploy 1 unit and roll on reserves to
deploy a second unit (as the Nids don’t realise the Orkz are there). In the
second round the nids deploy another unit and roll on reserves to deploy a further
two units, in the third round the nids deploy another unit and roll on reserves
to deploy a further three units etc… until all units are deployed. The Tyranid reproductive chambers are situated around the outside. Units can be deployed at any point in the designated zone although the organ-sacs of heavy units are only situated in the corners (as indicated). Due to the nature of Groft’s teleporter the Orkz cannot deploy heavy units.
Battlefield:
This battle takes
place in the Tyranid Hive Bio-ship. Tyranid Bio-ships are gigantic space swimming living creatures
Whilst on board Armies are under the influence of Synapse/Shadow of the Warp.
-Tyrainds can not Go To Ground or flee combat. Their only thought is to protect the ship.
-Orc Psykers are at -3 Leadership
Use high density Terrain: 1D3+2 per table sixth.
This is mostly Impassable, Line of Site blocking (Walls) or Tyranid Digestion Pools
The first two pieces of terrain placed in each table sixth must be a wall,
the third must be a Tyranid Digestion Pool.
- Digestion Pools are gurgling volatile acid. Any model entering this Difficult terrain suffer a Str 3 AP 3 hit.
If four or five pieces are rolled, they can be any type the players choose.
Due to the on board nature flyers can only hover and flying creatures can only glide.
No Drop Pods.
No model or Barrage shooting can pass over the top of a wall.
Due to the close confines of the ship corridors Template weapons, Eg. Flamers, are twin-linked.
Nb. Twin-Linked flamers use the Shred special rule rather than a re-roll 'to-hit'.
Also due to the close confines of the ship corridors all Over Watch is fired at BS2.
There are no restrictions on the model size that can be taken but they can only move between terrain where they can fit.
The Result:
To be continued...

Excellent. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI have assumed that we using the months base points:
1,000 July or more likely 1,250 Aug
+ Handicap
Let me known if you had other plans.
Yes, those point limits should be about right.
