Mission Briefing:

The Tyranids have infested another planet.

However; this planet is of particular interest to the Dark Angels and they will not see if fall until they have finished their investigations.

A suspect is hiding in City One.
The Dark Angels must hold back the Tyranids whilst he is found.

Close to the entrance to the city is a digestion pool that the Dark Angels are threatening, this is distracting the Tyranids and should give the Angels Inner Council enough time to complete their mission.


Mission Outcome:

The Dark Angels sought to adopt a flexible response to the Tyranid threat, securing the entrance to the city by occupying a strong defensive position and deploying a heavy artillery Contemptor, whilst also taking the battle to the enemy with a force landspeeders.

To the Angels horror, the Tyranids responded by committing two Gargantuan creatures to the fray - a force that significantly outmatched the defenders. Their position looked bleak, as the landspeeders were effectively scattered into evasive manoeuvres and the monstrous insects started to advance...

Then, when all appeared lost, the Angels were delivered from catastrophe by the arrival of aid unlooked for. Limbed in flames, ghostly warriors appeared from the ether and assailed the Tyranid assault forces. The psychic commanders of the insect horde were slain almost instantly, and their chattels were forced into flight. The monstrous gargantuans were forced to deflect their assault, allowing the Angels to regroup their forces - which started to whittle away at the remaining Tyranid units. Although the ghostly apparitions were eventually overpowered by the Tyranid monsters, their efforts had turned the battle decisively in favour of the Imperium - and the surviving Tyranids were forced to abandon the field.
