Escalation Campaign

Escalation

September - December 2016

This campaign uses fixed army lists in blocks of 500
Missions are random or the player with a lower campaign point total then their opponent may choose a mission.

Each player starts by creating an army with a maximum of 500 points, no handicap (500 is too small to include a handicap). This 500 point army is fixed (including upgrades taken at this point) for the whole campaign, to be used against all opposing armies in all subsequent battles. Do not expect to spend exactly 500 points, this is just a maximum.

Eg Orks could take a MegaWarboss and two Gorkanauts for 490 pointsThe Orks would use this army against all the other armies

When playing the same opponent for the second time the Maximum points raise to 1,000 (plus handicap - see below). The original ‘500’ point army stays the same, no upgrades.
This new 1,000 point max army stays the same for all games against the other armies where you are now fighting for the second time. The 'no upgrade' rule applies to these new units taken as the escalation campaign continues.

The handicap must be spent on a separate unit(s), these points can not be used for upgrades on the core '500' point units. If no extra unit can be purchased with the handicap point limit then there is no handicap taken. The Handicap unit is not fixed like the other points and can change as different armies are played in subsequent games.

Eg Orks are playing Tyranids for a second battle in this campaign so now they have an additional 500 plus 10 that was not spent in the original ‘500’ points. They can buy a unit that can enter the Gorkanaut (as it is a transport) as this is not an upgrade but they could not get Grot Riggers on a Gorkanaut.

Each additional battle adds a further 500 points to the fixed army list to a maximum of 2,500 at five games vs the same army.

If you have already played the same opponent twice and therefore have a 1,000 point list and then play an opponent for the first time, you must play using your original 500 point list.

All battles earn campaign points. The winner of the battle gets +1 point per 500 points in their base army, the loser -1 point per 500. No players points will reduce below zero.
Eg the first battle against each player is worth 1 point, the second 2 points and so on upto 5 points for a 2,500 point battle.

The campaign ends 31/12/2016.

Having tried to create some armies to fit in with these rules, I would suggest not getting your hopes up with the first '500' point army, it will almost certainly be rubbish, and as you will be stuck with these units for all remaining games (without the possibility of upgrades) it may be worth thinking about the longer game plan.

Eg I plan on taking 485 points that will become a formation at '1,000' points where I can buy the remaining units for that formation with the 515 points I will have available.

Any questions to be posted in the comments below.
