Thousand Sons (1850) vs Adeptus Mechanicus (1850)
Capture and Control
Hammer and Anvil
Battle commenced with a daring full scale assault by Mechanicus Robots on the Thousand Sons Primarch, Magnus the Red, ably supported by long range shooting (that killed a Daemon Prince) and secondary attacks (that severely weakened Tzaangor defenders).
However, Magnus is made of strong stuff - and wounding him merely served to make him angry...
Magnus was able to wipe out the infiltrators, and then proceeded to wreak havoc amongst other Mechanicus units (combining Psychic power with melee ability).
Meanwhile, concentrated C-Beams from Hellforged Contemptors effectively wiped out the Mechanicus' long range sniping; and deep striking Scarab Occult Terminators mopped up much of what remained.
The battle lasted into Turn 3, at which point the Mechanicus conceded defeat. (Before their last 2 models went the way of the rest).
Comment:
A lot closer than a tabling would suggest - had Magnus failed more saves in the initial assault, he would not have been able to deal with the infiltrating units; and the rest of the Thousand Sons army would have been hard pressed to carry the day.
