Day Fight

With a mainly defensive army, the Adeptus Mechanicus hid in battlements and ruins under a Void Shield Generator and allowed the Iron Hands to come at them. And come they did! They arrived in drop pods and by deepstrike, not only appearing in the first turn but assaulting and firing their heavy weapons as they did so. The generator was razed to the ground and the Breachers with their feared Heavy Grav-Cannons were wiped out.

Crawling out from the debris, the Mechanicus were able to to delay first blood with two Iron Hand Heavy Support Units but had to commit weak units to slowing the Iron Hand Warlord in assault and ultimately surrendered first blood.

With the Knight Errant now tar-pitted, the Iron Hands infantry went about engaging and then eliminating the Mechanicus ordinance and Warlord. There followed three turns when the assault overtook the shooting and although the Knight Errant won its melee the victory was Pyrrhic, as being weakened and out of position, it was soon brought down by the Iron Hands remaining meltas. With the Objectives woefully exposed, the Iron Hands were able to claim all three and waited for the end of the game and resounding victory.

However, it didn't come, and now the Rangers and Infiltrators who had mainly observed the proceedings came into the reckoning. Despite taking out Iron Hand units, neither Skitarii force could contest an Objective and still the Iron Hands held three and waited for the end of the game. Still it did not arrive.

The infiltrators rounded on the remaining Rhino, removing it and taking its Objective. The Rangers finished off the Heavy Support around their own Objective, though they could not reach it and the most intense and improbable of battles came to an end at 12.30!
