Mission : Underground Tunnel Network

Here is a suggestion for an alternative mission for April :

Underground Tunnel Network

Battlefield
This battle takes place in an underground tunnel network.
Use high density Terrain : 1D3+2 per table sixth.
This is mostly Impassable, Line of Site blocking (Walls) or Mysterious Lakes (Floods).
The first two pieces of terrain placed in each table sixth must be a wall,
the third must be a mysterious lake.
If four or five pieces are rolled, they can be any type the players choose.

Due to the underground nature flyers can only hover and flying creatures can only glide.
No Drop Pods.
No model or Barrage shooting can pass over the top of a wall.

Due to the close confines of the tunnels Template weapons, Eg. Flamers, are twin-linked.
Nb. Twin-Linked flamers use the Shred special rule rather than a re-roll 'to-hit'.

Also due to the close confines of the tunnels all Over Watch is fired at BS2.
There are no restrictions on the model size that can be taken
but they can only move between terrain where they can fit.

These tunnels are well lite so do not roll for night fighting.

Alternatively, this could take place in the building walkway complex.

Primary Objectives
Major Terminal
In the center of the battlefield there is a major terminal where data can be collected.
This scores one point at the beginning of your turn if controlled.
These points are awarded every turn, except the first.

Minor Terminals
There are also six minor terminals, in the middle of the six table areas.
If these minor terminals are controlled at the beginning of your round, vital data can be downloaded.
The potential point value of this objective increases by one per turn controlled.
The total point from each minor terminal objective is scored only if controlled at the end of the game.
If these objectives are contested the value doesn't increase.
If you stop controlling a minor terminal objective the points value freezes until you can re-control it.
If you control an objective that was previously controlled by an enemy the potential value of that objective starts from one point and starts to build up again.

Eg.
Orks control an objective at the beginning of turn two to five.
This is worth five points if the game ends.
Turn six the Eldar contest the objective so it dosn't increase in value.
If the game ends, no-one scores the points as it is not controlled.
Turn seven the Eldar control the objective.
It is worth one point for the Eldar. The game ends.

These minor terminals can be destroyed, preventing its scored. They have T8 W2 S3+.

Secondary Objectives
Slay the Warlord, First Blood, Line Breaker

  1. Sounds interesting, I'm up for it. Two comments from me: 1) Twin-linked Template weapons - why, they don't roll to hit; 2) If its underground I suggest no fliers or barrage weapons at all.

    1. 1) Template weapons do not need to roll to hit, you just hold them over the target. Eg Abyssal Staff. Nb. Templates are not the circles, they are Blast markers.
      2) Barrage weapons can be fired direct like a standard weapon (not just up and over)
Fying monstrous creatures are jump infantry so should be allowed unless Destroyer Lords are also excluded.
Flyers in hover mode are skimmers so they should be allowed unless Annihilation Barges are also excluded.

  2. 1) I understand what Template weapons are, I was trying to understand what is the benefit of having them twin linked.
    2) Accepted and agreed.

    1. Sorry, I misunderstood.
Templates have a special rule so they re-roll to wound when Twin-Linked, instead of a re-roll to hit.
