The invertebrates had come ready for the usual onslaught from the Eldar heavy weaponry and set up behind their Aegis Defence Line in preparation. However, the Eldar had chosen mobile defence and were able to dominate the Evacuation Zone in turn 2.
The insect forces found themselves too far away to make meaningful inroads into the Eldar scoring units despite seizing initiative. Aided by Autarch Allannah, the Eldar were able to Evacuate 12 points of units in turn 3 and so the swarm crept back behind their wall to consult the Hive Mind.

You didn't mention how useful Allannah's Path of Strategy was. Without it two troops and the Farseer would have been left behind for another round and probably Allannah would have stayed to continue the evacuation as well.
