The Hive Tyrant could feel the hive mind,

It was strong with memories of the recent Dark Angels battle on F8. 

This time would be no different, this time the Tyranids would be victorious.

He surveyed the Dark Angels position.

So few to defend so many objectives.

The fast would decide this battle.

It would soon be light so the time to strike was now...

Once again, without warning, the Dark Angels has seized the moment

But this time, their force refused to target the Tyranid Zoanthrope

(who had immodestly titled himself the Bane of Angels)

The Dark Angels Death Wing Terminators struck deep into Tyranid territory, ignoring the Bane of Angels and instead hunting down the Fallen traitor lurking within Tyranid ranks. With accurate artillery support, the traitor was slain - the first blood of the battle had been spilled.

The Bane lived on.

The Tyranid leader sought to intervene to sway the battle in the Hive's favour - but the timely arrival of the Dark Angel air support soon put paid to his efforts. Volleys of cannon fire and well targeted missiles brought the monstrous creature down.

The Bane lived on.

Enraged, the myriad Tyranid swarms came alive and sought to overwhelm the Terminator assault team. Their abundant firepower, weak as it was, found flaws in half of the Terminators Armour; and once their ammunition was spent, the frail Tyranid termigants charged their foe. However; the Astartes shrugged off wave after wave of attackers, exacting grim retribution for their previous misfortunes.

The Bane lived on.

As in previous battles, the Barbed Heirodule, a God of War, trained his lethal firepower on the Dark Angels Tanks. Once again, weight of firepower broke through  armour and power fields - the tanks were knocked out. But these successes could scant compensate for the decimations being wrought on the elite Tyranid units that had - unwisely - left the safety of cover in pursuit of glorious victory.

For now, the Bane lived on.

Wave after wave of heroic Tyranid sought to bring down the few remaining Terminators - but the elite marines refused to give ground. Unable to affect the battle further and reduced to impotent fury, the God of War was reduced to attempting to destroy a lone human building on the edge of his vision; but his divine powers could not prevail against the stout armour 9 structure.

By now nearly alone and with all hope gone, the Bane now succumbed to the might of the Dark Angels.

Invasion, Predation, Consumption, Assimilation. My arse...

Game finished at end of round 5 (but in reality over by the end of round 2)

A fair fight not affected by disparate dice throwing - but perhaps a mission that favoured quality of units over quantity...
