Delta Tao - Mission Impossible

It didn't take a seer to know this was an impossible mission. To lead Eldar down into the dark tunnels of the Tyranids would take an exception leader. Maugan Ra stepped forward. Some Eldar may say he has been corrupted by Chaos but they are not the Eldar who have fought in his presence.

The tunnels were truly dark.
The swarms of the Tyranids could not be seen at first but they could be heard.

The forces of the Eldar may have been gathered at the last minuet, not truly knowing the full nature of the mission before them but they seized the initiative and pressed forward.

The number of Tyranids were almost beyond counting.
Gargoyle flocks swooped in.
They could not be stopped with firepower so the Storm Guardians stepped forwards and repelled them all.
Hormagaunts, dripping with toxins, leaped toward the Eldar.
They could not be stopped with firepower so the Harlequins charged forwards and repelled them all.

After the dust had settled, the Tyranid swarms lay as broken bodies on the ground.
The Eldar had survived the first wave but it was only the first wave and now they faced a larger Tyranid menace.

Genestealers, Toxic Shikes and more attacked the Harlequins.
This was more than they could handle.
The fatal attack on the Harlequins had bought time enough for the Dark Reapers to get into position so they could wipe out the Genestealers and for Maugan Ra to drop the Zoanthrope.

The remaining Guardians faced a raging Carnifex and the Tyranid Warlord - The Swarm Lord.
They stepped back, making every second of their firepower count.

The Eldar now outnumbered the few remaining Tyranids
But the Tyranids were all too big to become complacent.

Shrikes assaulted Maugan Ra and his Dark Reapers.
The Carnifex and The Swarmlord assaulted the Gardians.
Maugan Ra and the Dark Reapers held back the Shrikes in a stand off.
The brief battle with the Guardians left the Swarmlord free to join the struggling Shrikes.
A wounded Maugan Ra was no match for The Swarmlord.
If only he could have lasted a little bit more the Windriders would have been safe with the prize.
If only the Harlequins had earlier wounded the Shrikes on their path in.
This assault ended just too early for the Eldar.
